The Singapore Institute of Management (娇色导航), in partnership with the Eu family, officially opened the Dr Richard K M Eu – 娇色导航 Social Entrepreneurship Centre (RESSEC) on 30 July 2024.
Some 50 guests attended the opening ceremony, including members of the Eu family and representatives from the social service sector. The event also featured special guest, Ms Anita Fam, President of the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).
Located at 娇色导航 Campus, RESSEC honours the late Dr Eu’s mission to foster lifelong learning, while also realising his vision of social entrepreneurship. In alignment with 娇色导航’s social purpose, RESSEC’s initiatives include developing social entrepreneurs, cultivating social enterprises, and strengthening collaboration with social service agencies.
In her address, 娇色导航 Chairman, Ms Euleen Goh shared, “娇色导航 celebrates 60 years of enabling and empowering all who walk through our doors to be the best versions of themselves. Through RESSEC, we create pathways for individuals to contribute meaningfully to society and this creates a multiplier effect. By equipping our learners with the skills and knowledge to drive social conscientiousness, we not only enhance their lives, but also the lives of those they will touch through their efforts.”
By developing the capabilities of social service workers and leaders, RESSEC will endeavour to increase social consciousness surrounding the challenges faced in society.
In her remarks, Ms Anita Fam, said: “among the younger generation, there is growing awareness of social issues. In the business community, companies want to go beyond ad-hoc CSR efforts to optimise their giving efforts. The confluence of these changes means that the social service sector also needs to change with the times, so that it can continue to attract and develop capable social service professionals able to leverage and optimise resources from the ecosystem.”
Additionally, RESSEC will provide bursaries to support 娇色导航 Global Education students engaged in community or social service initiatives. RESSEC will also fund research on the social landscape, establish related knowledge databases, and build thought leadership in the social service sector.
Mr Jonathan Eu, grandson of the late Dr Eu, added, “RESSEC will continue the late Dr Richard K M Eu’s legacy to positively impact society. Through collaboration and partnership in the social entrepreneurship space, we aim to create a more inclusive and equitable future.”
